Two teams with totally different ambitions are going to meet at the Schwarzwald-Stadion in Freiburg.

Freiburg, who are still chasing a qualification for Europa League, are hosting Werder Bremen – a team which is under a realistic danger of playing a relegation play-off after the end of the campaign.

Freiburg are currently just two points behind the 6th Koln, so a win against Werder could take them back to the Europa League zone in the Bundesliga. Christian Streich’s team won just one of their last five games in the league, but against Werder Freiburg will have a good chance to get back in rhythm.

As for Werder, Alexander Nouri’s team is performing better and better in the last weeks. Werder won four of its last five games, which allowed the team to improve drastically its situation in the battle for survival. Right now Werder are two points above Hamburger and the relegation-playoff spot, so their fight is far from over.

Freiburg will be without Jonas Föhrenbach, who is still injured. Nicolas Höfler and Lukas Kübler are doubtful for the game, but Pascal Stenzel and Vincent Sierro are ready to come back and help the team.

Werder can’t rely on Eric Oelschlägel, Clemens Fritz and Izet Hajrovic, who are still recovering from their last injuries. A lot of players of the away team are doubtful for the clash, including Santiago Garcia, Justin Eilers, Florian Grillitsch, Serge Gnabry, Johannes Eggestein and Philipp Bargfrede. The good news come from the recovery of Fin Bartels and Max Kruse, who are once again avaliable.

Both teams have a lot to play for, so we should expect a competitive game between them. They are not going to give up on their goals just yet, so we should expect a fierce and solid battle between them.
